The winners of the first American Manga Awards were announced at Japan Society’s Lila Acheson Wallace Auditorium on Aug 22, 2024.
The American Manga Awards aim to recognize and honor manga creators, stories, and the publishing professionals who bring them to readers in the US & Canada.
The awards were presented in several categories, including Best New Manga, Best Continuing Manga Series, Best New Edition of Classic Manga Series, Best Translation, Best Lettering, and Best Publication Design.

Moreover, Frederik L. Schodt, the translator and author of Manga! Manga! The World of Japanese Comics, was honored with the Manga Publishing Hall of Fame award.
The American Manga Awards were organized by Japan Society and Anime NYC, with Deb Aoki, known for her work with Publishers Weekly and Comics Beat, serving as the chair of the planning committee. The event was hosted by Matt Alt, a translator and author who is also a judge for the awards.
