Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga will be going on a two week break after the release of chapter 1130 in the upcoming issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on Oct 21, 2024.

The series will resume in the 50th issue of the magazine releasing on Nov 11, 2024.

In addition to the manga, One Piece anime has also announced a six month hiatus and will retun only in April 2025. This was revealed during a special One Piece News #1 special broadcast.

During the hiatus, the anime will air special content. On Oct 20, 2024, a special 25th anniversary anime titled One Piece Fan Letter will air.

Afterward, starting on Oct 27, 2024, an edited version of the Fish-Man Island Arc will be broadcast. This new version will condense the original 57 episodes into 21 episodes, with updates to the animation quality.

Eiichiro Oda started serializing One Piece manga on Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump since July 1997, with its chapters compiled in 109 tankobon volumes as of July 2024.

The manga holds the Guinness Record for the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author. This record was first verified in 2015 and confirmed again in 2022.

The One Piece anime by Toei Animation began airing on Oct. 20, 1999, nearly two years after the manga debuted. Since then, it has become one of the most iconic anime series in history establishing a legendary status for itself.

The anime holds the Guinness World Record for the most DVDs released by a serial anime TV program.

A remake of the anime by WIT Studio, titled THE ONE PIECE, is currently under production. The staff members and first look of the anime was also revealed during the ONE PIECE DAY ’24 event.
