The manga also received a heartfelt tribute from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2’s anime director, Shota Goshozono, who also shared a personal reflection on his involvement with the series.

In his message, Goshozono recalled his initial struggles in the anime industry and how he found inspiration in Akutami’s work.

I joined the anime industry thinking, ‘Perhaps I have talent,’ but I lost hope and quit within a year. Later, when Jujutsu Kaisen began serialization, I was drawn to it immediately. It was filled with the influences of the things I grew up watching. Upon realizing the author was someone of my generation, I was both inspired and humbled,” Goshozono wrote.

He continued by sharing his journey back into the industry and eventually becoming involved with the Jujutsu Kaisen anime project.

Working as the director of season 2 was a challenging task, and I often found myself reflecting on Akutami-sensei’s work ethic and the sheer volume of content he produced week after week. It made me wonder what kind of person could take on such an intense workload for six and a half years. Now that Jujutsu Kaisen has reached its conclusion, I truly want to say: Akutami-sensei, thank you for your hard work. You did an incredible job,” Goshozono concluded.
