One Piece fans were left in confusion this week regarding the manga’s publication schedule, following conflicting announcements about its hiatus.

However, it has now been officially confirmed that One Piece will indeed be going on a two-week hiatus starting with Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #51 this week due to Eiichiro Oda’s health issues.

The Shonen Jump editorial department released an official statement, clarifying that while One Piece was listed in the contents of Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #51, the correction to the schedule couldn’t be made in time due to printing constraints.

Checkout the full statement below:

To our beloved readers,

Thank you for always reading ONE PIECE. Because of the author’s poor physical health condition, ONE PIECE will take a break in this week’s issue.

We deeply apologize to all the readers who were looking forward to it. Although ONE PIECE is listed in this issue’s postcard and table of contents, due to printing schedules, we were unable to make the correction in time. Once again, we deeply apologize. The series is scheduled to resume in the next issue, New Year’s Issue #1, on sale December 2. Thank you for your continued support of ONE PIECE.

One Piece had already taken a two-week hiatus after the release of chapter 1130 in the 47th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on Oct 21, 2024.

The series returned in the magazine’s 50th issue on Nov 11, 2024. The previous break was attributed to Oda’s involvement in preparations for Netflix’s One Piece live-action season 2.

One Piece anime is also on a six month hiatus and will retun only in April 2025.

Eiichiro Oda started serializing One Piece manga on Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump since July 1997, with its chapters compiled in 109 tankobon volumes as of July 2024.

The manga holds the Guinness Record for the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author. This record was first verified in 2015 and confirmed again in 2022.

The One Piece anime by Toei Animation began airing on Oct. 20, 1999, nearly two years after the manga debuted. Since then, it has become one of the most iconic anime series in history establishing a legendary status for itself.

The anime holds the Guinness World Record for the most DVDs released by a serial anime TV program.

A remake of the anime by WIT Studio, titled THE ONE PIECE, is currently under production. The staff members and first look of the anime was also revealed during the ONE PIECE DAY ’24 event.
